A little more about us:
Bowness and Windermere Community Care Trust (BWCCT) is a registered charity which exists to promote the well-being of the local community by engaging, responding, caring and serving.
BWCCT seeks to deliver a range of services with the support of volunteers and paid staff.
These services previously included a weekly luncheon club, a lunchtime meals delivery service named "Windermeals" (in response to the isolation created by the Covid Pandemic) and a drop in coffee morning.
Unfortunately due to an ongoing reduced pool of volunteers none of these activities are curently able to be provided.
If you would like to discuss working with us as a volunteer to help regenerate some of these, or help identify new, activities please contact us.
The Phoenix Centre in Windermere is owned and managed by BWCCT and is available for hire for meetings, classes, events and parties.
The Phoenix Centre is home to Windermere Youth Project, Heathwaite Football Club, Windermere Sea Scouts, Windermere Weight trainers, U3A Table Tennis, Ladies Volleyball, Jo Wood( Advanced Personal Training), Stan the Salsa Man, South Cumbria Breastfeeding Support Group and Rhythm Time South Lakes and Furness.
Mayela Redondo, Holistic Therapist,is also based at The Phoenix Centre.
BWCCT also undertakes many other projects for the benefit of the local community. Recent projects have included work with our local Primary Schools providing creative dance, music making and inter-generational projects involving the schools and residents at Goodly Dale Cottage Homes, Applethwaite Green and Birthwaite Flats. We also provide support and time to assist the Lakes School Community Partnership in their fundraiser activities to provide students with additional equipment and resources that would not otherwise be available within the school budget.
The Trust was incorporated as a limited company on the 11th of October 1999
(no. 03857179) and is a registered charity (no. 1079452).
BWCCT is managed by a Board of Trustees. The trustees are:
